NEW YORK – A New York, oltre 3mila irriducibili corridori hanno gareggiato alla “Run Away NYC marathon“, una maratona improvvisata. Quella ufficiale è stata infatti cancellata dal Sindaco Bloomberg per la prima volta in 42 anni, a causa delle devastazioni provocate dall’uragano Sandy.
I maratoneti non si sono fermati e in migliaia si sono egualmente date appuntamento a Central Park per correre per le vie di Manhattan la “Run Away NYC marathon”, maratona senza pubblico, senza tavoli di ristoro e soprattutto senza un traguardo.
I partecipanti sbarcati in massa in città, hanno poi raggiunto Staten Island, luogo di partenza tradizionale della gara ma anche zona devastata da Sandy. Qui, in molti hanno dato una mano ai volontari impegnati a soccorrere le persone colpite dall’uragano (Ap/LaPresse)
