SEUL (COREA DEL SUD) – La leader democratica birmana Aung San Suu Kyi è arrivata a Seul in Corea del Sud per incontrare martedì 29 gennaio, Park Geun-hye, il primo presidente donna eletto in Corea del Sud. Con lei condivide la tragedia di avere avuto il padre ucciso ma anche di avere superato tale disgrazia per diventare un punto di riferimento politico nel proprio Paese.
Il padre di Suu Kyi, eroe dell’indipendenza birmana, fu assassinato nel 1947, mentre l’ex presidente sudcoreano Park Chung-hee, padre di Park Geun-hye, fu ucciso dal suo capo dell’intelligence nel 1979. Suu Kyi visiterà la Corea del Sud per partecipare all’apertura delle Special Olympics, manifestazione sportiva per atleti disabili, e riceverà un premio per l’impegno nel campo dei diritti umani.
