LONDRA – La regina Elisabetta inaugura il Royal Ascot, l’appuntamento ippico più prestigioso e ‘glamour’ d’Inghilterra, e spera quest’anno di fare il ‘bis’ dopo la vittoria di un suo cavallo alla scorsa edizione. Il suo Estimate aveva tagliato per primo il traguardo in una competizione valida per la Gold Cup, facendo così esultare la sovrana che aveva mostrato una gioia incontenibile.
Elisabetta coltiva da tempo una grande passione per i cavalli, continua ad allevarli e ad avere una propria scuderia, oltre a concedersi un’ora di trotto ogni giorno nonostante gli 88 anni. Royal Ascot, oltre ad essere un appuntamento clou per l’ippica, è anche un evento glamour in cui si alternano cappellini stravaganti (vedi foto) e fiumi di champagne. Nei giorni di gara si scommetterà su tutto: perfino sul colore che la regina sceglierà per il suo cappello.
