NEW YORK – Le Pussy Riot Maria Alyokhina e Nadia Tolokonnikova nella sede di Amnesty International di New York. Le due femministe russe, la sera del 5 febbraio parteciperanno al concerto peri diritti umani organizzato da Amnesty a Brooklyn a cui prenderà parte anche Madonna.
In conferenza stampa, Maria e Nadezhda Tolokonnikova hanno invitato gli americani a non farsi ingannare dallo show allestito da Putin in occasione dei giochi olimpici invernali di Sochi. Liberate dopo 16 mesi di prigione alla vigilia delle olimpiadi invernali, Maria e Nadezhda hanno continuato a criticare la politica del presidente russo.
Madonna salirà sul palco del Barclays Centre di Brooklyn ma non canterà. Qualche giorno fa, a proposito della sua partecipazione, aveva dichiarato:
“Sono onorata di presentare le mie compagne combattenti per la libertà, Masha e Nadia. Ho ammirato il loro coraggio e sostenuto il loro impegno e i sacrifici che hanno fatto in nome della libertà di espressione e dei diritti umani”.
Il marito della Tolokonnikova, Piotr Verzilov, in qualità di portavoce delle due donne, sempre qualche giorno fa aveva precisato che le due attiviste russe non avrebbero cantato al concerto, “ma leggeranno un discorso e parleranno della situazione politica e dei diritti umani in Russia”.
Le due attiviste sono state recentemente amnistiate dalle autorità russe e rilasciate dal carcere, dopo che erano state condannate a due anni per una dissacratoria preghiera punk anti Putin nella chiesa del Cristo Salvatore a Mosca.
