PHILADELHIA – Jon Bon Jovi ha preso parte al taglio del nastro per la “grande apertura di un complesso residenziale a Philadelphia per persone a basso reddito”. La struttura da 55 appartamenti è intitolata al cantante e porta il nome di ‘JBJ Soul homes’, ed è stata costruita in 18 mesi nel quartiere di Francisville, grazie ai fondi devoluti principalmente dalla fondazione di Bon Jovi, la Soul Foundation. L’edificio ha quattro piani ed è stato finanziato da fondi pubblici e privati per un totale di 16,6 milioni di dollari. Ci sono anche negozi e spazi per gli uffici.
All’interno della struttura, i residenti riceveranno i servizi sociali dal Progetto ‘Home’, un’organizzazione no-profit che ha l’obiettivo di porre fine al problema dei senzatetto a Philadelphia. La rock star italo americana e originaria del New Jersey , spiega che ci sono state diverse centinaia di persone, circa 600, che hanno fatto domanda per le 55 unità abitative.
I residenti avranno anche accesso a cure mediche di base, una formazione lavorativa e corsi di istruzione. L’inziativa ha come slogan il titolo della sua hit ‘Who says you can’t go home?’, ovvero ‘Chi dice che non puoi andare a casa?’. La fondazione della rockstar si è già adoperata per i meno fortunati in diverse città, costruendo abitazioni a Detroit, Los Angeles e nello stato della Louisiana e del New Jersey.
