WASHINGTON – Nel giorno del primo dibattito pubblico contro il suo avversario repubblicano Mitt Romney, Barack Obama si prepara a celebrare un altro grande evento. Il presidente degli Stati Uniti e la moglie Michelle, infatti, martedì 3 ottobre hanno festeggiato il 20esimo anniversario di matrimonio.
Era il 3 ottobre 1992 quando il futuro inquilino della Casa Bianca sposò la giovane avvocatessa, un mese prima dell’elezione di Bill Clinton a presidente. La città di Chicago ha dedicato alla coppia una targa nel mezzo di un parco. “Qui – si legge – il presidente Barack Obama baciò per la prima volta Michelle”.
In occasione dell’anniversario, il sito internet ufficiale del presidente ha organizzato una singolare iniziativa. Tutti quelli che desiderano fare gli auguri alla coppia presidenziale possono inviare una cartolina virtuale. I festeggiamenti veri e propri, però, sono rimandati a sabato 6 ottobre.
