La donna è stata raggiunta da decine di giornalisti che a Buenos Aires l’hanno raggiunta fuori dalla sua casa. Lei, anziana, ha i capelli bianchi e il volto paffuto. Una bambina le porge un bigliettino e lei ride.
A proposito del fratello, Maria Elena Bergoglio ha raccontato: “Era un bambino molto allegro, arzillo, direi. Facevamo le cose che fanno tutti i bambini, giocavamo, andavamo a scuola mano nella mano e cucinavamo. Ho pregato che non lo eleggessero. Avevo incontrato Giovanni Paolo II e aveva lo sguardo di un uomo stanco e solo. Non volevo succedesse la stessa cosa a mio fratello. Dopo l’elezione ho pregato per lui.”
