LONDRA – l primo ritratto ufficiale di Kate Middleton è in esposizione alla National Portait Gallery di Londra. AL duchessa di Cambridge ha voluto incontrare Paul Emsley, il ritrattista che ha realizzato il quadro.
La Duchessa, a quanto raccontano i giornali britannici, ha partecipato al processo di miglioramento del quadro insieme ad Emsley. L’artista è diventato famoso dal prestigioso premio vinto al Gallery’s BP Portrait Award nel 2007 : per questa ragione è stato appositamente selezionato dal direttore Sandy Nairne come ritrattista ufficiale di Kate, che ha posato per lui la prima volta a maggio del 2012 e la seconda a giugno.
I lavoro del ritrattista è proseguito con delle semplici foto che lo aiutassero a completare l’opera. Come ha dichiarato Emsley stesso, la peculiarità del suo stile è quella di riportare i volti sempre su tela scura, in modo da far emergere “la particolarità del viso e il silenzio della forma” .
