LOS ANGELES – Hello Kitty compie 40 anni e a Los Angeles prende il via la prima convention ufficiale del gattino con il fiocco rosso. Nata nel 1974 dalla matita della designer giaponese Yuko Shimizu, la micetta per bambine ha decretato il successo dell’azienda Sanrio.
Lunghe file serpeggiano nel museo di arte contemporanea della Città degli Angeli. Si prevedono in 4 giorni circa 25mila fan e non di certo solo bambine. All’interno del museo si estende una mostra in cui le appassionate possono vedere l’evoluzione dell’amato disegno, ascoltare letture sulla sua popolarità e acquistare prodotti esclusivi creati apposta per il 40esimo compleanno, che cade il primo novembre.
La storia del gattino senza bocca inizia su un portamonete per ragazze, poi a metà degli anni Novanta celebrità planetarie come Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga e Britney Spears ne fanno un marchio di successo in tutto il mondo. Alla gattina è stata anche dedicata una chitarra Stratocaster con il suo logo.
Decine di persone si sono recate alla convention indossando gli abiti di Hello Kitty o particolari come le orecchie da gatto o il fiocco rosso. Per l’occasione aziende come Sephora hanno creato prodotti speciali.
