GRAN BRETAGNA – Glastonbury Festival 2014. E’ il festival musicale più famoso e “bagnato” d’Europa, per via delle condizioni atmosferiche poco favorevoli in cui spesso si svolge. Si tiene a Pilton, a circa 10 km da Glastonbury nel Somerset in Inghilterra, dove la pioggia è tutt’altro che rara.
I cancelli del Glastonbury Festival si sono aperti il 27 giugno. Per tre giorni hanno visto sfilare non solo la consueta orda di hipster provenienti da tutta Europa, armati di tende e galosce, ma anche numerose star, sopra e sotto al palco.
Molti gli artisti degni di nota: dagli Arcade Fire a Lily Allen, dai Metallica a Robert Plant e Lana Del Rey ai Kasabian, Black Keys, Massive Attack e Yoko Ono. Hanno rappresentato l’Italia gli M+A e i torinesi Sweet Life Society.
Da New York è arrivato anche il “graffitaro” Bansky con la sua installazione “Sirens of the Lambs”, un furgone carico di animali giocattolo che riproducono i versi quando viaggiano sulle nostre strade per andare al macello.
Glastonbury è anche conosciuto per l’elevato consumo di droghe illegali da parte dei partecipanti, abitudine creatasi grazie alla sua origine hippie. Per questo è tenuto costantemente sotto controllo dalla polizia.
