NUOVA DELHI (INDIA) – Centinaia di attivisti per i diritti dei gay, nei giorni scorsi si sono radunati a Nuova Delhi, la capitale dell’India, e in altre città del Paese per protestare contro la decisione della Corte suprema di reintrodurre il reato di omosessualità.
Nel 2009 l’Alta Corte di Delhi stabilì la depenalizzazione dell’omosessualità, che fino a quel momento era punibile con pene fino a 10 anni di carcere in base a una legge risalente all’era coloniale, ma la scorsa settimana la Corte suprema ha ribaltato la sentenza del 2009, affermando che solo i deputati possono cambiare quella legge.
La comunità gay del Paese chiede al governo di intervenire immediatamente per rimuovere il divieto delle relazioni omosessuali. Sono circa 800 i manifestanti che si sono raccolti a Nuova Delhi: indossano braccialetti neri e sventolano bandiere arcobaleno; alcuni portano maschere e parrucche per proteggere la loro identità.
