Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) recently pushed the envelope on extreme abortion analogies, arguing that pro-choicers’ vagueness about the moment when life begins is akin to haphazardly firing a gun into a crowd.
“You cannot take a chance with life anymore than you can shoot a gun into a crowded room and take a chance that you might not kill somebody,” King told CNS News in response to a question about exactly when Jesus got “the right to life.” “You cannot guess about when life begins. You have to pick an instant, and there’s only the instant of conception.”
King defined human life as “sacred in all of its forms” and beginning at the time of conception. Condoning any other more ambiguous definition, he added, would be similar to allowing institutionalized and blind murder.
