ST. LOUIS — Some of the country’s most selective colleges continue to have difficulty luring more low-income students to campus.

Washington University in St. Louis has a strong commitment to recruiting more first-generation college students and those from disadvantage backgrounds. But the school ranks dead-last among the nation’s 50 wealthiest schools when it comes to enrolling low-income students.
