Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne made a spectacular stick save in overtime against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday without actually holding the stick.

During an Oilers power play, Rinne lost his stick after a save and Edmonton’s Shawn Horcoff tried to capitalize. Horcoff almost put the puck past Rinne, but the goalie’s stick happened to lay flat in front of the goal, blocking the puck from going across the red line.

“I’ve never seen anything like (Horcoff’s power-play attempt) before,” Oilers goalie told the Edmonton Journal. “It’s crazy. … If that was a centimetre to the right, it would have turned the stick enough to go in.”
