TUCSON, Ariz. — A former Army soldier involved in an Arizona crash that severed the arm of an Air Force military police officer has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years probation.

Joseph Maverick was sentenced Monday. He was convicted in October of leaving the scene of the Tucson accident and tampering with evidence by throwing the arm in a trash bin.
