The Center for Public Integrity reported Tuesday that ABC News had a reporter who worked essentially as a mole for the FBI during the 1990s.

The CPI gained access to a declassified FBI document that showed that the journalist, who was not named, cooperated with the bureau, giving agents the identity of a confidential source who had been providing the reporter with information about alleged ties between the Oklahoma City bombing and Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi Special Services. (Those connections, of course, turned out to be false.)

The memo seems to say that the journalist had multiple contacts with the FBI between 1995 and 1996, and even had a number in the bureau’s informant database.
